Not in favor of natural gas ban

A few more facts about electric stoves: The idea of passing a law to restrict only electric stoves for new construction is totally half-baked.

Electricity happens to be generated by natural gas and fossil fuels by fueling boilers and turbines. As a matter of fact, 60.3% of all electricity generated in the U.S. was generated by fossil fuels. Of the 60.3%, 40.3% was by natural gas.

Natural gas appliances can often be more efficient on a full-fuel-cycle basis than similar appliances that use electricity, propane or oil.

The source-to-site efficiency of natural gas averages 92%; that is, 92% of the energy contained in extracted natural gas is useful energy that can directly fuel appliances, as compared to about 30% efficiency for electric appliances.

So if you think you are helping the environment by mandating electric appliances in all new homes you are definitely not doing your homework. Actually you are contributing to the problem.

The real answer is solar.
