Not at Forest Cove

Our City Council has been in the planning stages of building a community center at the upper part of Forest Cove Park. While a community center could be an added asset to our community, the location selected is a major issue. It will bring increased traffic to the Oakview Ranch, Chateau Springs, and Chateau Park neighborhoods.

Forest Cove Lane and Rainbow Crest Drive already experience heavy traffic. Traffic along Canwood is also an issue as it is an auxiliary road to the freeway.

The homeowners who live in the above tracts bought here for the quality of life that included the use of Forest Cove Park for sports, picnics, exercising their dogs, walking to meet a neighbor, etc. These residents will experience a decline in property values as they will loose their greenbelt, and most important, be subjected to added traffic, noise, and be next to a building for commercial use in a residential neighborhood. The proposed site does not belong where people reside.

Does the City Council remember the banquet facility that was in Lobo Canyon years ago that had to be closed because of being in a residential area? While there were other issues and circumstances, the main one was that a commercial facility does not belong in a residential neighborhood.

There are other alternative sites closer to commercial properties that would be better suited for a community center. I urge the City Council not to jeopardize property values and the quality of life for these residents.
