The Acorn announced the creation of the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors this week in 1975. Acting under state law, the supervisors established advisory groups for unincorporated areas of the county. The five members who would make up the council would be elected the following November, but supervisors were deciding whether or not to appoint an interim board.

A local boy, John Uebersax of Agoura, was chosen as the commencement speaker for the University of Southern California. A 1971 graduate of Agoura High School where he was valedictorian, Uebersax majored in psychology, philosophy and religion and planned to continue his studies in clinical psychology at the University of Texas.

The 20th Century Ranch on Las Virgenes Road was the subject of an Agoura Valley Chamber of Commerce meeting. Developer Andre Jasik presented a plan to turn the facility into a recreational and dude ranch, with a hotel and restaurant.

The pond in the Arcade mall became the new home for two blue catfish. The fish were donated by the owner of the local Dee La Roo Ranch, where deer, llamas and kangaroo were raised.

Free counseling services were offered at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westlake Village. The nonprofit, nonsectarian group known as LIFE LINE Community Counseling Center offered suicide prevention and crisis intervention counseling through professional staff. Local service groups provided funding. Today the Westminster Free Clinic, providing free health services through volunteer medical staff and area students, continues to operate.
