The Agoura Hills Library will celebrate National Library Week with various activities at 29901 Ladyface Court, Agoura Hills. For information, call (818) 889-2278.

+The play “Dinosaur Wars” by Myles Nye will be presented at 3:30 p.m. Tues., April 17. The show is geared toward elementary school students and stars David Hoffman and Keith MacKechnie as rival fossil hunters.

+Michael Shermer, author of “Why Darwin Matters: The Case Against Intelligent Design,” will talk about his latest book, which explains the facts of evolution at 6:30 p.m. Tues., April 17.

+At 2 p.m. Sat., April 21, Agoura Hills Mayor Dan Kuperberg will read awardwinning children’s books. His reading will be followed by a tea party, complete with cookies, in the children’s area. The bookmark contest winners will be awarded at that time.

Winners in kindergarten through grade 2 are: first place, Stan Liao, second grade at Willow Elementary; second place, Abbie Paul, first grade, Willow Elementary; third place, Madison Penta, second grade, Sumac Elementary.

The grade 3 through 5 winners are: first place, Max Stein, third grade, Yerba Buena Elementary; second place, Micaleen Rodgers, third grade, Sumac Elementary; third place, Simone Liao, Willow Elementary.

Winners in grades 6 through 8 are all eighth-graders from Lindero Canyon Middle School: first place, Alex Lewis; second place, Ashlie Bauer; third place, Allegra Colston.

L.A. County bookmark contest winner Stan Liao will be honored at 7 p.m. Wed., April 25 when the Agoura Hills City Council proclaims National Library Week.

+The National Theater for Children will present “Water Pirates of Neverland: A Boatload of Trouble! Every Little Bit Helps!” at 11 a.m. Sat., April 28.

+Story times for children will be held April 17 through June 12. Preschoolers’ story times, for children ages 3 to 5, are Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Toddler time, for children ages 1 to 3, is at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays.

+The Book Cellar is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store is run by the Friends of the Agoura Hills Library, which accepts donations of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and videos. The store sells paperbacks with prices starting at 50 cents; hardbacks start at $1. Audio/visual materials are available for purchase also.
