No place for new Agoura housing

Say “no” to 557 housing units at Kanan and Thousand Oaks roads.

In their search to add low-cost housing to their city, the Agoura Hills City Council has approved adding 557 housing units to the three shopping centers located by the Kanan and Thousand Oaks intersection.

Does that sound as unbelievable to you as it does to me? Would the units go on top of the existing buildings? Or would the shopping centers anchored by Vons, Ralphs and the Deli be torn down and underground parking lots built at the centers, with stores and housing on top of parking?

This is nuts. Please ask City Council members to remove the three shopping centers from the low-income housing map that will soon be sent to Sacramento.

Kanan Road is one of two main emergency exits from Oak Park and Agoura Hills. I do not want more traffic with 1,000-plus cars turning out of the shopping centers to clog up the wildfire escape route for so many of us.
