Oak Park schools rebound after recession


BACK TO SCHOOL—Parents accompany students on their way to Oak Hills Elementary in Oak Park during the first day of class on Aug. 28. The school district welcomed 180 new students this year.
The Oak Park Unified School District opened classes yesterday with higher enrollment, stronger budget and increased safety measures on campuses.
Enrollment increased by 180 students. The district now teaches approximately 4,700 children, Superintendent Tony Knight said.
