New web series celebrates local artists

The Arts Council of the Conejo Valley has launched its newest program, “ArtCast,” a seven-part web series featuring interviews of local multicultural visual artists and entertainers.

Sidra Fullerton, a Thousand Oaks resident whose work as a journalist has benefited several entertainment and publishing entities in the Greater Los Angeles area, is the host and coordinator.

The first episode debuted July 1. Plans are to post upcoming episodes bi-monthly on www.conejoarts.org and on the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley YouTube channel at youtu.be/DX5mfrUB_ m0.

The first episode highlights the life and work of producer, writer, and actress Tanya Thomas, whose one-woman show, “Naturally Tan,” describes her career journey through the eyes of her Asian diaspora heritage.

Future episodes will spotlight award-winning African-American, Mexican American, Native American, Pacific Islander, Chinese American, and German American artists, writers, dancers, actors, and instrumentalists.

All are professionals, including rising stars and award-winning leaders in their fields.

ArtCast was made possible through the City of Thousand Oaks Emergency Arts grant, the volunteer efforts of the ACCV board of directors, and individual supporters. Arts council president and film/television composer Ed Smart provided the opening music and editing.
