New rabbi guides synagogue

Temple Ner Ami of Camarillo named Rabbi Lisa Bock to serve as the organization’s new spiritual leader beginning July 1.

Rabbi Michael Lotker, who formerly served in that role, became rabbi emeritus for the temple during a ceremony at the synagogue on June 29.

Bock was recently ordained after completing rabbinic studies at the Academy for Jewish Religion California. She is also a graduate of Cal State Northridge.

She served as a student rabbi at Temple Ner Ami for more than six years and as a rabbinic intern at other temples in the area.

Bock retired from her business ventures and serves the temple’s Jewish community in Camarillo and the greater Ventura County area full time.

She is married to Ken Bock and has two grown children.

Temple Ner Ami is a Reform congregation of more than 200 families in Camarillo and is affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism, formerly the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.
