A new weekly newspaper will hit the streets tomorrow in Moorpark.

Steve Carlson is the editor of the new Moorpark Acorn.

Hired at the end of August, Carlson has a diverse background in both advertising production and sales, having worked in both in Ventura County for the last 30 years.

Carlson began his career in media and communications after his family moved to Westlake Village in 1967. He helped launch the very first Acorn when he worked with the original publisher, Bill Poremba. Carlson worked as production manager for The Acorn and also produced editorial cartoons for this publication until 1985.

A resident of the Moorpark area for the past 10 years, Carlson said, "I’m passionate about this new incarnation of The Acorn in that I want it to be a fair and balanced reflection of the community it serves. We’ll integrate the basic rules of good journalism and fair play, while maintaining an upbeat attitude in reporting the news and events of our community."

Carlson, 52, lives on the Tierra Rejada Ranch in unicorporated Moorpark with his wife, Sandy, and daughters, Christa and Meagan.

The Moorpark Acorn will deliver its inaugural edition tomorrow to 10,000 homes and businesses in the Moorpark area.
