Health workers are bracing for a harsher-than-usual flu season that is sweeping across the U.S. and making its way to the local communities. Patients are reaching for the cold medicine and chicken soup.
“The virus has definitely arrived,” said Dr. Paul Russell, deputy health officer for the Ventura County Department of Public Health. “The kids are back in school and are taking it home to their parents and spreading it to their grandparents, so the numbers are going to go up.”
