Nature camp introduces kids to insects, paleontology

Adventure hunts, arts and crafts, field trips scheduled



Reservations are still being accepted for Mountains Restorations Trust’s Discovery Nature Camp, offered in three, oneweek sessions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in June, July and August at Headwater Corners, 3815 Old Topanga Canyon Road, Calabasas.

Designed for campers ages 8 to 12, the adventure day camp introduces children to the wonders of nature through biology, science, ecology and American Indian cultural tradition.

Each session will focus on different themes and include day hikes, adventure hunts, guest speakers, animals, lab sessions with scientific tools, nature crafts and games and a field trip to the Malibu Lagoon.

Session descriptions are:

•July 21 to 24. Paleontology, outdoor survival, insects.

•Aug. 18 to 21. Geology, birds, mammals.
