National Merit Scholarships announced





The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced the names of high school seniors who have won the National Merit $2,500 scholarships. The Merit Scholars were chosen from a talent pool of approximately 15,000 finalists.

The winners were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high schools counselors.

The Scholars may use their awards at any regionally accredited American college or university.

Following are the local scholarship winners and their home towns.

Agoura High School: Veenadhari Chavakula, Agoura Hills; Kevin Kho, Agoura Hills; Kelsey Krigstein, Agoura Hills.

Calabasas High School: Katherine Lockwood, Calabasas; Larissa Korach, West Hills.

La Reina High School: Jennifer Frutchey, Camarillo; Amanda Turk, Westlake Village.

Newbury Park High School: Levin La Rosa, Newbury Park.

Thousand Oaks High School: Brian Moon, Thousand Oaks; Abigail Sassoon, Thousand Oaks.

Viewpoint School: Madeline Schwarz, Agoura Hills; Cleo Handler-Jedrlinic, Tarzana.

Westlake High School: Andrew Maleki, Thousand Oaks; Aislinn Smalling, Thousand Oaks; Dominic Insogna, Westlake Village; Linda Peng, Westlake Village.
