NASCAR Family Fun Night invites top pro racers

Yerba Buena Elementary School in Agoura Hills is hosting an event this weekend that is sure to get the community’s motor running.

Auto racing professionals and others in the field will be among the special guests at the school’s upcoming NASCAR Family Fun Night on Sept. 15.

Tim and Lisa Huddleston are sponsoring the event. The Huddleston family owns and operate High Point Racing in Simi Valley. The company offers a multi-level driver development program.

Several NASCAR professionals and circuit winners will be at the event to sign autographs and participate in the fun and games, which will serve as a fundraiser for the Agoura Hills elementary school.

Tim Huddleston is a three-time champion at Irwindale Speedway in NASCAR’s Auto Club late model division.

Trevor Huddleston, the family’s oldest son, is the track record holder for the fastest lap at Kern County Raceway in the SRL S2 Division and is also an actor in Disney XD’s “This is My Life” program. He’s also a repeat winner in the Bandolero series for young drivers. He is currently battling for the championship title for the SRL S2 series and is running second in points.

Lisa Huddleston’s father, Oren Prosser, is a five-time Saugus Speedway champion, although he won’t be attending the event.

But Cole Custer, the 2011 National Midget Champion, will be there. Last month Custer became the youngest driver ever to win NASCAR’s K&N race. Ryan Cansdale, an 11-time champion in divisions from go-karts to legends, will be at the event, too. And so will Elissa Gill, a top fuel driver who races in the SRL S2 series.

The NASCAR stars will be signing autographs at the event.

Other attractions include a big wheel race and mini course, a timed lug nut challenge, radio communication station, full-sized and mini NASCAR vehicles and a NASCAR semi-truck hauler.

A $10 Pit Pass is all-inclusive and includes food—one burger, side dish, drink, snow cone, popcorn—as well as a souvenir picture and access to all activities.

Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase 20 laps for $200 at the Irwindale Events Center. The money raised will go towards art and technology programs at the school.

The events are suitable for all ages except for the laps purchased for the Irwindale track. Drivers must be 18 years or older and height and weight restrictions apply.

“We are so excited for NASCAR Family Fun Night,” said Christina Desiderio, Yerba Buena principal. “This evening is a wonderful Yerba Buena community activity. The Huddlestons have been a member of the YB family for 12 years. Their generosity and support for our school is greatly appreciated. I hope to see any and all community members join us for this fun event.”

Most tickets will be sold in advance; only a limited number of tickets will be sold at the door. For information, call (818) 889- 0040 or email yerbabuenapfa@yahoo.com to purchase tickets.
