The new YMCA in Westlake Village is in its final phase of construction, and the organization says the public is invited for a family fun day, hard-hat tour and official naming ceremony for the building on Sept. 9.
The event gets underway at 10 a.m., and the Y’s name will be announced at 11 a.m. in the ceremony at 31105 Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Westlake Village, just west of Lindero Canyon Road.
All that’s left for the $35-million project is interior construction and some exterior landscaping.
When it’s finished, the 60,000-square-foot complex will house a fitness center, two pools, a basketball court and a multipurpose space for classes.
“We are very excited to unveil the new name of our YMCA,” said Greg Koubek, the Westlake YMCA executive director. “Thanks to a number of very generous donors, we were able to begin the final phase of construction in May and anticipate opening in spring 2019.”
The Sept. 9 event will include music, a raffle, food and a free kids’ zone with crafts, face painting, bounce house and games. Tours will take place throughout the day for guests 18 and over.
Y staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about membership pricing for the new facility.
