Musical Arts program has openings

Students entering grades 1-8 in the fall are eligible to apply for Pizazz 2000, a summer musical arts program that stresses the joy of music through a variety of musical experiences in a nonreligious arts curriculum sponsored by the music program of United Methodist Church of Westlake Village.

The program is offered Aug. 14 through 18 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, plus a 7 p.m. celebration performance for participants’ parents and friends.

The staff utilizes singing, handbell and choir chime ringing, choreographed movement and music enrichment to conduct the musical adventure.

This summer’s theme, "Celebrating a Century of Music" will emphasize music of the 20th Century and how it has evolved through advances in recording technology. Participants will get "hands-on" experience with a variety of orchestra instruments when the New West Symphony Music Van visits their enrichment classes.

The $90 tuition includes a non-refundable $20 application fee.

Extended day care is offered for an additional fee.

A few openings remain for the popular program. For more information on registration and to receive a brochure and application, please call the church office at (818) 889-5431 or (805) 497-7884.
