The Ventura County Museum of History & Art will present a free lecture series focusing on life in Ventura County up to and including the year 1910. The series is a precursor to the second 1910 Ventura County Exposition, a living history fair on Oct. 14 at the Pierpont Inn in Ventura. Lectures begin 7 p.m. at the city of San Buenaventura Council Chambers, 501 Poli St. in downtown Ventura. Admission is free but reservations are required by calling (805) 653-0323, ext. 10. The lecture schedule is as follows: May 9: "The Arts and Crafts Movement: Its Origins and its Cultural Implications as Manifested through Architecture and Decorative Arts in Ventura County." May 16: "Cultural History and the Changing Role of Women in the Early Twentieth Century." May 23: "Issues and Incidents Surrounding the Coming of the Automobile to Southern California."
