The Museum of Ventura County will give a presentation on the history and strategies of collecting California paintings at 2 p.m. Sat., Jan. 22 at, 100 E. Main St. in downtown Ventura.
The speaker will be Scott Levitt, vice president of fine arts and director of California and Western painting and sculpture at Bonhams & Butterfield.
Levitt’s expertise ranges from old master to modern art, with interest in California and western paintings and sculpture. He is a member of the American Arts Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
The presentation is $10 for the general public and $5 for museum members. The fee includes admission to all gallery exhibitions, including Nature’s Palette, the art of California impressionist Meredith Brooks Abbott.
