Liana Moss, an Agoura High graduate, was named the University Athletic Association Rookie of the Year after an excellent freshman season with the Brandeis University softball team.
Moss, a second baseman, was also an All-Association firstteam selection. The former Charger led Brandeis in home runs (seven), extra base hits (19) and slugging percentage (.770). She batted .410 in 30 regular-season games, good for third on the team, while adding 28 RBI, nine doubles and three triples.
Brandeis teammate Madison Gagnon, a sophomore batting .306 with a team-high 35 runs scored, is a Westlake High product.
Moss, Gagnon and the Judges will play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Division III postseason tournament. The double-elimination tourney starts Saturday for Brandeis, which sports a 21-16 record.
