Moorpark College welcomes new faculty





Moorpark College welcomes the following new faculty members for the 2008-09 academic year.

•August Benassi, speech. Benassi has a master’s degree in communications from Illinois State University. He has won numerous national awards in competition.

•Kahroline DiPassero, mathematics. DiPassero has a master’s degree in pure mathematics and has been an adjunct faculty for the Ventura County Community College District.

•Jana Johnson, biology. Johnson has a PhD in biology and has been a contract biologist working on the endangered butterfly project at Moorpark College.

•Jeffrey Kreil, physical education. Kreil has a master’s degree in exercise science from California University of Pennsylvania. He has been working in the fitness industry, developing curriculum for personal trainers.

•Erika Lizee, art. Lizee has a master’s degree in art from Cal State Northridge and has been teaching at Moorpark College as an adjunct faculty member.

•Rachel Nuger, anthropology. Nuger has been teaching at Hunter College in New York. She has a PhD from City College of New York.

•Brendan Purdy, mathematics. Purdy has a PhD in mathematical behavioral science. He has been teaching in the School of Social Science at UCI and will run the Math Center at Moorpark College.

•Neal Stewart, speech. Stewart has both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in speech communication from Kansas State University. He has been working as the assistant forensics coach at Kansas State.

•Liane Cox Tomich, nutritional science. Cox Tomich has been teaching at Moorpark College as an adjunct since 2006. She has a master’s degree from Columbia University. Her full-time position with the college will begin in January 2009.

•Michael Walegur, a specialist in Geographic Imaging Systems, has a master’s degree in physical geography from the State University of New York, Albany. He has been a member of the adjunct faculty at Wiedner College in Pennsylvania.
