Mixed up priorities

I am continually amazed that we have no money for fire, police education and road improvements. We do have money for other things such as flower beds on the freeway slopes, such as the one just west of Balboa on the north side of the 101 Freeway. Judging from a sign I saw we are now going to fiber optic the traffic control from a central location. When the computers at this central location go down we will have a monumental traffic jam. The present system is not broke, so quit trying to fix it.

The latest non-priority are all the bridge height signs that do not seem essential to me.

We have people planting trees in the parkways that will now need to be watered. We are asked to conserve water, yet they plant non-essential trees which will require maintenance in the future.

And we had locals trying to promote a water park that we do not need.

All levels of government need to cut out the dog and pony shows and demand a cut from every department of 10 percent or whatever percentage it takes to balance the budget. All the politicians seem to do is keep dancing around the issues while we get deeper in debt instead of making the cuts.

Get with the priorities of what is essential.
