Boy Scout Troop 2956 held a Court of Honor to confer three Eagle Scout ranks on Dec. 23 at the Latter-day Saints Church, 6100 Double Tree, Oak Park.

  • Alex Thompson’s Eagle Scout project was to organize a spaghetti dinner to benefit Casa Pacifica, an agency that provides help for abused, neglected and severely emotionally disturbed children.

Thompson provided a free spaghetti dinner to those who donated books for Casa Pacifica’s library, which is used by the children and teens housed at the facility. He collected more than 2,000 books and also assembled the library shelving for the books.

Thompson attends Harvard University and plays for the Harvard Water Polo Team.

  • For his Eagle Scout project, Brandon Turley organized a bike repair and donation and a bike rodeo. Twelve bikes were donated, repaired and given to the Westlake YMCA. Turley plans to serve a full-time mission for the LDS Church next year and then begin his studies at a university.

  • Timothy
Potter’s Eagle Scout project helped to upgrade the Oak Park High School track
team’s weight training room. He organized 30 students and five adults over five
days to clear the room; drywall and paint the unfinished frame and cinder block
walls; and build and install cabinets and shelves. Potter attends Brigham Young
    University.
