Meetings for gifted scheduled




SENG Group for Parents of Gifted Children and Teens

SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted) discussion groups will offer parents an opportunity to share strategies and support in a relaxed setting, guided by SENG-trained facilitators. The series will start Thurs., March 27 in the Oak Park High School Library, Film and Lecture Room.

The emphasis will be positive parenting, avoiding power struggles and developing life skills. Topics include discipline, perfectionism, motivation, underachievement, peer and family relationships and twice-exceptionality (special needs, but gifted).

Understanding Gifted Adults

This new monthly series for gifted adults to talk about the joys and challenges of their lives starts Thurs., April 3 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Oak Park High School Library, Film and Lecture Room.

Topics will include sensitivity, multi-potentiality, perfectionism, introversion/extraversion, relationship challenges, “imposter syndrome” and isolation. The series will be led by psychotherapist Judy Wiener who specializes in giftedness and twice exceptionality, and is SENG-trained. The program is sponsored by the Oak Park Unified School District.
