Caltrans began construction on a new concrete median barrier on U.S. 101 spanning more than 19 miles between Hollywood and Woodland Hills in Los Angeles.
Replacement of the existing barrier is part of a district-wide goal to improve the effectiveness of the barrier and reduce collision severity for motorists.
The $49.7-million project will take place between Pilgrimage Bridge in Hollywood and Valley Circle Boulevard in Woodland Hills.
