Measure H would be harmful to the future

Measure H
would be harmful
to the future

I think I’ve lived in this city too long. I remember when one of the proponents of Measure H was decrying the utility tax, saying that if the city had Costco (larger than 60,000 square feet), there would be no need for the tax.

He also supported the River Walk project, which, in the beginning, included a Wal-Mart. Let’s take a look at who does not support Measure H and who does.

Pro-business Agoura Chamber of Commerce does not support the measure. Save Open Space, the Sierra Club and other environmental groups do not support Measure H. The local homeowners’ groups do not support Measure H. The elected officials from Agoura Hills, current and past, do not support Measure H. Three businesses that do not want free enterprise competition support Measure H. After reading The Acorn this week, it seems a good probability that Home Depot will never be built. So it appears that the "threat" is gone.

Agoura Hills is a wonderful place to live and work. We want our open spaces and parks and streets to be maintained in a manner becoming our city. This measure is harmful to the future of Agoura Hills.
