Master plan in the works for a graying California



 As the Golden State gets grayer, the impact of California’s aging population on public services will be enormous.
A variety of studies contain statistics that point to ongoing problems, including a jump in the state’s suicide rates among seniors and shortages of in-home caregivers.
“One of the darkest signs is the rise for the first time in homelessness among people over 50,” said Kim McCoy Wade, director of the California Department of Aging.
