Master Chorale to usher in holidays

The Los Robles Master Chorale will celebrate the holiday season with a concert at 8 p.m. Fri., Dec. 5 in the Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Under the direction of conductor James Stemen, the Chorale will perform "Christmas Cantata" by Pinkham and "Canite Tuba" by McCullough, accompanied by brass, percussion and organ ensemble.

In addition, the Chorale will also perform "Christ is Born, O Shout Aloud" by Camarillo composer Pauline Delmonte, "Love Came Down at Christmas" by Lewis Whikehart and familiar carols with audience participation.

Also performing a selection of holiday music by Vivaldi, J.S. Bach and others will be the Los Robles Children’s Amadeus Choir and Los Robles Children’s Camerata Youth Choir.

The Chorale will honor the memory of composer/teacher/director Dr. Lloyd Pfautsch, Stemen’s mentor, by performing an arrangement by Pfautsch of "What Sweeter Music Can We Bring?" The concert is dedicated to his memory. The Chorale’s assistant director, Wilbur Skeels, will give a pre-concert lecture in the Kavli at 7 p.m.
