Marshall takes the helm at Agoura elementary school

The Las Virgenes Unified School District Board of Education has selected Jessica Marshall as the new principal of Yerba Buena Elementary School and Buttercup Preschool in Agoura Hills.

Marshall has an extensive leadership and teaching background. Over the past year and a half, she has served as the assistant principal at Lindero Canyon Middle School, working with teachers and staff to create a safe and welcoming environment for all students.

Prior to that, she taught for 17 years at an elementary school in Conejo Valley Unified School District, covering TK, kindergarten and classes for grades two, three and four.

In this capacity, Marshall took on various leadership roles serving as an English language development coach, grade level lead teacher, technology coach and schoolwide enrichment model coach.

She assisted with setting goals on the Single Plan for Student Achievement and writing applications for the California Distinguished School Award.

The selection panel highlighted Marshall’s relational skills, her proven track record for raising instructional achievement and extensive leadership background as assets.

“Ms. Marshall’s extensive experience in elementary teaching and leadership is something we are really excited about,” said Steve Scifres, assistant superintendent of Human Resources,

“Her extensive knowledge and early childhood instructional background will help keep the program thriving at Yerba Buena Elementary School and Buttercup Preschool,” Scifres said.
