Man donates to K-9 program

John Hesson donated $22,000 to the K-9 program on Aug. 17 through the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Foundation. The donation was in memory of his wife, who recently passed away.

The amount was sufficient to pay for a canine and the requisite training to make the animal patrol ready.

The German shepherd was named Renata in honor of Hesson’s deceased wife, Renee. Renata is the German translation of Renee.

Both John and Renee Hesson had for years admired the K-9 program. John Hesson had always wanted to be a law enforcement officer but his career path took him in a different direction.

The K-9 program is funded by donations.
