LVUSD first to ‘Webcast’ meetings

Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD) has recently become the first school district regionally to begin "Web casting" school board meetings. The inaugural coverage was slated for Oct. 9.

"This will … (provide) real time access by the community to our board meetings," said Donald Zimring, deputy superintendent of schools.

"Another advantage of this approach is that it will enable us to use existing equipment and technology without having to utilize our limited resources for a non-school activity," Zimring said.

To access the Webcast, log on to www.lvusd.k12.ca.us and press button for "Board of Education."

That will present a screen that will enable users to access the Web cast. The Web site will also store the previous board meeting for delayed play as well.

Video software is needed to view the Webcast and is available at no charge on the school’s Internet site.

For additional technical information on the Web cast, please call Michael Carmody, director of Management Information Systems for the district at (818) 878-5227.
