Looks forward to lively election

In reading Sylvie Belmond’s article on the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District Board election in November, I find it troubling when Glen Peterson, up for reelection, states that fellow board member Barry Steinhardt has been “confrontational since the get-go.”

Could it be that Mr. Peterson would prefer a rubber-stamp approval by the board over listening to other points of view, which may be more cost-effective and transparent to the thousands of ratepayers in the LVMWD?

As stated in this article, over the past four years a board majority consisting of Charles Caspary, Glen Peterson and Lee Renger has been criticized by some constituents for its spending practices and farreaching capital improvements.

We need water board directors who are willing to be “confrontational” to look at the issues with an open mind and not roll over in voting with the majority.

I hope “confrontational” candidates will step up and file the appropriate paperwork by Aug. 8 to oppose Glen Peterson and Lee Renger in the November general election.
