Residents of Wilshire Retirement Center Fallbrook and Assistance League of San Fernando Valley (ALSFV) volunteers recently blew out 15 candles on a decorated cake to commemorate 15 years of ALSFV’s participation in the national Assistance League organization, five years as a guild and 10 years as a chapter.

This also marks the 12th year that the Senior Multi-Interest Leisure Enrichment (SMILE) program has been providing professional entertainment, refreshments and friendship to the residents of Wilshire Retirement Center Fallbrook on the first Thursday of every month.

Conejo Valley members of ALSFV who help with the SMILE program are: Marcia Anderson of Oak Park; Colleen Gray, Marion Holt and Althea Kapur of Thousand Oaks; and Jane King, Loretta Krier and Gloria Spencer of Westlake Village.

In addition, SMILE funds the ALSFV Alzheimer’s Scholarship, which gives recipients the opportunity to participate in intergenerational programs at ONEgeneration Social Care in Van Nuys.
