Local officials support ‘Mental Health Month’

In recognition of May as "Mental Health Month," Stirling Behavioral Health Institute of Westlake Village has dedicated a free telephone line to answer the questions of all consumers of mental health services and other interested people. This is the second year Stirling is participating in this public service.

"It is important to help the public understand how to handle mental health issues and realize that it is not a condition to be ignored," said Dr. Iraj Broomand, executive director of Stirling. Broomand is also a member of the Westlake Village City Council.

Last year the cities of Agoura Hills, Calabasas and Westlake Village issued proclamations supporting the concept, according to Broomand, who hopes the cities of Malibu and Hidden Hills "will also join us in this worthy cause and to more widely publicize these events."

Broomand has dedicated a free line for accessing more information about all the events that will take place from Calabasas to Thousand Oaks this month. He hopes that this line will continue to be available throughout the year in the near future.
