Local football teams will air it out at Conejo Classic

Football season never ends. It merely hibernates in the spring.

Several local high school football teams will compete at the Conejo Classic 7-on-7 passing tournament on Sat., June 16 at Newbury Park and Westlake.

The tourney starts at 9 a.m. The title game is at 2:20 p.m.

In addition to the host schools, Ventura County outfits at Thousand Oaks, Oaks Christian and Grace Brethren will participate in the classic.

Conejo Valley schools seek stability at quarterback.

Ben Gulbranson and Braden Handy will compete for the starting gig at Newbury Park. Marco Siderman, who spent last season at Oaks Christian, will compete with several candidates for playing time at Westlake. Chase Artopoeus, a starter in 2017 for Thousand Oaks, transferred to St. Joseph in Santa Maria.
