Local communities get funding for disaster preparedness

The federal government has opened the spigot on disaster preparedness funds and some of the money is now trickling down to help local communities.
The five cities that make up the Las Virgenes/Malibu Council of Governments (COG) have been given a $100,000 grant to beef up emergency measures, everything from new radio batteries to fresh medical supplies.
