Remodeling show

The Conejo Valley Home Remodeling Show is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sat., Sept. 8 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sun., Sept. 9 at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza, 880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village.

The event will feature more than 200 vendors showcasing the latest in home improvement products and services.

YogaWorks in Westlake Village

YogaWorks opened a new health center at 2475 Townsgate Road in Westlake Village this month.

The center features a quiet room with a living tree at
its center, a library with educational audio and visual yoga information,
wireless Internet
access, a dedicated area for children, community areas, a Pilates studio and a tea lounge. The locker room has full showers and towel service.

Classes are offered daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and students may also schedule oneonone consultations with yoga advisers.

In the YogaWorks at Work program, a YogaWorks teacher will visit an organization and lead employees in a class.

Homeowners class


The Area Housing Authority will sponsor free workshops on homeownership.


These workshops are scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Tues., Sept. 4 at the Grant
Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, and again on Tues., Sept. 18
at the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce, 2400 E. Ventura Blvd. The purpose of the
class is to inform low and moderateincome households about local, state and
federal programs that help with the financing of a home. The class also includes
an overview of the tax advantages of homeownership, special financing options
for firsttime home buyers or those who have not owned a house in the last three
years, tips on raising and maintaining a high FICO score and an option to create
a homeownership plan.


“Programs exist to help households that earn up to $113,981 per year,” said
Linda Fisher-Helton, community relations manager for the Area Housing Authority.
“Many families are not aware of these programs.”
