Living wage law discussed

Acorn Staff Writer

Oak Park has a healthy budget and won’t feel the effects of Ventura County’s new living wage law until at least 2002, county officials said last week.
The new law approved last month by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors requires the county to pay its employees at least $8 an hour plus benefits or at least $10 an hour without benefits.
The raises would affect 130 county employees and more than 300 contract workers, and cost the county $1.2 million a year.
