Lions grab volleyball coach

Oaks Christian announced the hiring of Chris Forrest as head coach of the varsity boys’ volleyball team.

Forrest guided Palisades Charter High for the last six seasons. He led the Palisades Charter boys to the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 title this spring.

“I am very excited to be a part of such a sports establishment like Oaks Christian,” Forrest said in a statement.

“I definitely want to make the (OCHS) volleyball program an even bigger contender on the league, section and state sports level. I also want to bring more students into the program.”

Oaks Christian athletic director Jan Hethcock said Forrest will bring excitement, energy and expertise to the team.

“We are looking forward to having Chris on staff,” Hethcock said in a statement. “His resume makes him a standout coach; his Christian faith makes him a strong leader, and his heart for working with students makes him a huge asset to the students of Oaks Christian School.”

Forrest was named California State Rookie Coach of the Year in 2008 by the California Coaches Association.
