Likes Lepisto

Dear fellow Acorn readers, I want to encourage you to vote for Sue Lepisto to represent you and your family as a member of the Agoura Hills City Council.

I admire Sue—“ Mom” to me—for maintaining a balance between her family, career, and community involvement. She has the best work ethic I have seen and she continues to impress others and me as she takes on new challenges.

For 25 years, my parents have been involved in many community events, local and area athletic teams, and our schools. My mom went the extra mile to coach track teams where other children and teens benefited from her commitment to them and volunteered for eight years to give advice as a member of a city committee for parks, their design, programs, and events.

I am in support of my mom not only as her son, but also as a second- generation Agoura Hills resident and homeowner. I respect that my mom wants to ensure that Agoura Hills remains a place where future generations want to live.

Mom serves as a self-appointed ambassador for Agoura Hills and when asked by young couples where they should raise their family, she tells them about Agoura. She will take her love for people and our city to work with your best interests in mind.

The position requires a time investment and my family decided that even though we might see her less, she is the best city council candidate. We are willing to let the city of Agoura Hills utilize and borrow her work ethic and skills. Garrett Lepisto Agoura Hills

I will be voting for Sue Lepisto for City Council.

I met Sue five years ago when she was hired by the Los Angeles Unified School District to open a new high school in Panorama City. The district knew that there would be significant challenges when this particular high school opened, and also knew that Sue was the right person to handle them.

For the four years that she was our principal, Sue created a safe, collaborative environment in which teachers, administrators, and parents interacted, generated policy, and made decisions that would help our students attain academic success.

Sue encouraged the teachers to create committees in which we were able to address the issues pertaining to teaching in our school, including a motivation committee, an inclusion committee, and a technical committee.

Sue understood the importance of arts classes in public schools, and that art classes teach students critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving skills. Sue also understood the needs of the art and music teachers, making sure we had the funds to run our classes with the materials needed.

Sue took an interest in all of us. Her door was always open, we were always invited in to talk to her, and she let us know from the first day that we were to call her Sue. Lynn Ben-Chetrit Agoura Hills
