Left behind in Afghanistan

I have just seen The Acorn’s Sept. 8 photo of 13 U.S. flags and the sign alongside, “No man left behind.”

Correction: hundreds, if not thousands, are left behind in Afghanistan to be brutalized, terrorized, murdered or held hostage.

We saw the horrific pictures a couple of years back of a young pilot set afire in a cage. The absolute, unmitigated horror of 9/11—no words can describe. Do we so easily forget?

This president not only brought shame on himself but on America, now the weakkneed capital of the world, once a proud and mighty revered nation.

Our own wonderful men and women of the military, all branches, our services, fire and police, have given life and limb to fight and serve the country they’ve loved. We, the people, have our freedom today because of such men and women.

And now so many allies and dedicated Americans are stuck in a country overtaken and run by brutes and bullies who can’t wait to maim, torture and kill.

America, get sensitive to what really has happened. Honor the 13 killed at Kabul Airport, yes. Just don’t add insult to injury with the sign “No man left behind. Acorn, where was your thinking?

Gov. Newsom, where was your thinking? Why didn’t you appose and fight the idea with your friend the president?
