Leave the Pledge of Allegiance alone

Leave the Pledge
of Allegiance alone

I have to write this letter—I prefer not to write "negative" letters; however, I put it off for a few days and now I have to write.

I listen each morning to the Channel 5 news—the best. I recall when Carlos and Mary Amezcua and their five (or is it four?) children moved to California from Utah to start up at his new job as a morning newscaster. He hoped it would catch on!

Anyway, not just Channel 5, but other news programs and the radio also, have been overworking "The Pledge of Allegiance" comments. "The Star-Spangled Banner," "God Bless America," "America the Beautiful"—I could go on and on—are magnificent works, and so is "The Pledge of Allegiance."

Aren’t there more important issues for our lawmakers and public officials? How can anyone find fault with "The Pledge of Allegiance"?

Let’s continue to be united.
