Kraut for council

I am very happy that Peter Kraut is running for a seat on the Calabasas City Council.

Peter supports responsible development that doesn’t destroy the environment that makes Calabasas so unique. His voting record as a planning commissioner since 2016 shows that.

There are precious few parcels of open space left in Calabasas. We must protect them from over-development.

We live in a very high fire hazard severity zone with limited ways of getting out in the event of mandatory evacuations. We all can remember the difficulties we encountered trying to leave during the Woolsey fire.

Adding more people to the area is a recipe for disaster. Just look at what happened in Northern California this past week. That is our future if we don’t plan carefully.

Peter Kraut doesn’t want any more development in high fire danger areas like Calabasas. He is supporting our local state Sen. Henry Stern’s Senate Bill 474, which would prohibit development in very high fire hazard severity zones like ours. This proposed legislation would go a long way in protecting vulnerable areas like ours.

I encourage you to follow Peter Kraut’s lead and let Sen. Stern know that you back SB 474, too.

Peter will listen to all sides and do his homework. It is time for new ideas and a fresh outlook as Calabasas will be updating its General Plan and adopting a new housing element in the near future.

Calabasas needs Peter’s values, integrity and judgment to be part of the decision-making process for our future.

Please join me in supporting Peter Kraut for City Council.
