Kids shoot commercial

Students from Lupin Hill Elementary School’s GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Program filmed a commercial on the beach near Malibu’s Point Dume on April 17. The fourth- and fifth-grade students will edit, score and record the voice track to the commercial and then submit the finished piece to local network and cable television stations as a public service announcement.

The commercial, developed on behalf of the Malibu Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, is the focus of an after-school enrichment program which began last fall under the mentorship of parent and advertising executive Ed Ball.

"This has been a rare opportunity for our students," said Carol Martino, Lupin Hill principal. "It’s exciting to see the project reach this pivotal point."
