Always standing for truth, justice and the American way, Jeff was never afraid to fight or at least argue for what he believed in. This hero to many was a staunch Bruin and Dodger fan, but even more, he was a lover of Westlake Village, our personal Camelot. Jeff was a healer, a scholar and an athlete who could be seen traversing through our beloved city in one of his wacky bicycling jerseys in the last four decades. He would praise and admonish local leaders in regards to keeping our village safe for pedestrians and cyclists alike. Keeping Westlake the prestigious and wholesome suburbia, where mountains and tree tops could be viewed instead of a plethora of neon signs that disturb the beauty in neighboring towns, was always his ambition and fervent desire.

This soft spoken scholar could out cheer any fan at a ballgame and scare the b’geebies out of an opponent, but return to his most tender self when speaking with a child or addressing someone in pain. He would always answer to emergency calls he was trained to respond to, without complaint even at two in the morning. Jeff’s dental practice was in Woodland Hills where his patients became long lasting friends and friends became grateful patients. His fingers could work magic in any mouth and grateful patients sang continuous praises.

Though born in New York, he identified himself as a Californian as soon as his parents transplanted him to Los Angeles at the age of three. His scholarship was recognized by his fellow Hamiltonians and faculty. He loved learning and took pride in remembering science and math formulas as well as Shakespearian speeches till his very end.

While our country was fighting wars in the Middle East, Jeff continued studying the civil war, creating round table speakers joined by well known historians and actors. But it was the world of Economics that spoke volumes to Jeff at UCLA and he would see failure and success in every strategic move made by our government by the workings of limitations of time and energy. He would often assist his wife coaching debate or decathlon at Thousand Oaks High School. He never minded when his wife needed to buy food, books, research material and even clothes for students, just because he valued the possibilities being offered in the name of education.

Jeff married his high school sweetheart (Gerri) fifty years ago. After four years of Dental School, in Cleveland with his wife, Jeff was selected to a prestigious Internship at Denver General Hospital. They loved the Rocky Mountains but returned to LA where they scouted for a home to raise their family. Michael Wissot was born in 1974 and Laura Wissot/ Ortman arrived in 1977.

Community was everything to Jeff and his family; they opened their home to bring political candidates, paddle tennis friends together, share movies with bicycling friends or meetings and meals with fellow congregants of their temple. They could always be seen weekly at Western Bagel, at Pierce Brothers on Memorial Day, participating in Conejo Valley Days, the local park on 4th of July, school science fairs or just hanging out at their favorite store, Barnes and Noble. Notably, Jeff also loved his Thursday lunch meetings at their favorite diner, Harold’s (House of Omelets). There he would meet up with other retired professionals, and they never needed giving Jeff a menu as they knew what Jeff would order every week.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife Germaine Renee (Gerri), their children Michael and (Alison), Laura and (Justin), their six precious grandchildren: Jacob, Abby, Daniel, Bryden, Nolan and Gia; and his brother Mark Elliot Wissot.
