Japanese Garden explores ancient tea art





The Japanese Garden at the Donald Tillman Reclamation Center will host two of Southern California’s tea ceremony masters of the Urasenke School as they demonstrate the ancient art of the Japanese tea ceremony.

The public demonstrations will be at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sun., Nov. 26 in the garden at 6100 Woodley Ave., Van Nuys.

Traditional costumes and tea props will be part of each ceremony and guests will be allowed to participate. Origami activities, traditional Japanese storytelling, refreshments and garden tours will be offered throughout the day.

Admission is $3 for adults, and $2 for children under 10 and seniors 62 and over. The garden is open from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and Sundays 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
