Janss Marketplace names youth ArtWalk winners

Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks recently announced the finalists and winners of its inaugural Youth ArtWalk competition. Local students submitted more than 260 works of art.

Ella Sherman of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School won the first-third grade division.

Haley Gilchrist, first-place winner in the fourth-sixth grade division, studies at Art is Our Passion.

Jessica Han of Newbury Park High School captured first place in the seventh-ninth grade division.

Matthew Sahakian, who studies under Bob Noonan at Studio 316, earned first place in the 10th-12th grade division.

Second- place winners are Abhigna Srikantam and Amelia Paweletz, both students at Pinecrest.

In the seventh-to-ninth-grade division, Emily Kim of Oaks Christian received second place.

In the high school division, Billy Schloctel of Moorpark High School tied with Amanda Lichtl of Thousand Oaks High School.

First-place winners received checks for $200, the Star trophy, and $200 in Janss merchant gift certificates. Their schools or art teachers were awarded $400.

First runners- up received a $ 75 check and $ 75 in gift certificates.
