Interfaith song celebration

Give peace a chance—and a new song—during an interfaith and multicultural celebration later this month.

The community is invited to perform an original song, “We All Pray the Same,” during the event from 7 to 9 p.m. Fri., Sept. 21 in the sanctuary of the Westlake Village Global Truth Center, 880 Hampshire Road, Westlake Village.

The free event is in observance of the worldwide International Day of Peace.

The celebration will include the participation of local clergy, spiritual leaders, churches, temples, mosques, schools and community organizations.

“The gift of song is a powerful force for strengthening the ideals of peace and provides a space for a common unity among all of us,” said James Mellon, spiritual director of Global Truth Center.

A former Broadway actor and award-winning songwriter, Mellon wrote “We All Pray the Same” with Scott DeTurk, to reflect a oneness of love and unconditional acceptance, Mellon said.

At the event, participants will be divided into groups to create four-part harmony.

The performance will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. at globaltruthcenter.org.
