inno Tae Kwon Do Academy opens in Westlake Village

inno Tae Kwon Do Academy recently opened its new martial arts studio or do-jang at 1125 Lindero Canyon Road, Unit A-5, Westlake Village.

Their innovative teaching methods strive to bring balance to the spiritual and physical aspects of the ancient martial art while recognizing the training, skills and health benefits of the sport.

Tae Kwon Do was introduced as a permanent Olympic sport in the 2000 Games.

"inno Academy emphasizes the martial arts for children to instill the discipline and coordination gained from training the body. This in turn contributes to a healthy mind," said Master Yong Hun Han, headmaster of inno Tae Kwon Do Academy. "We want to enhance their self esteem and build their confidence."

Han began studying Tae Kwon Do in Korea in 1982 and began teaching in 1986. Tae Kwon Do has its origins in Korea, and the literal translation means "ways of the hand and foot."

inno’s Master Rod Kraemer teaches adults—who seem to prefer the sport side of Tae Kwon Do—a special integrated class that involves increasing awareness and the mental and physical preparedness needed to deal with real-life threats.

He also teaches specialized classes in weapons and grappling.

The academy is under the direction of Grand Master Hong Lae Kim, who was previously the Tae Kwon Do national coach for Greece and Luxembourg. Classes are offered for all ages and the Academy can tailor individual training for special needs, including private lessons.

Hours are noon to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday.
