It was great to read an article regarding a contentious issue that was reasonable and presented both sides. I want The Acorn
If Chabad wants to be a small, neighborhood shtiebl where the truly observant walk to Shul on Shabbat, the current CUP already provides more than enough for that. The current occupancy rate of 70 is all that fits into our quiet, residential, R-1 zoned neighborhood. Let the CUP stay as it is, and let the county deny a zoning variance for the illegally-built addition that violates rear zoning setbacks.
Chabad of Oak Park should be a small shtiebl for local Oak Park residents who walk on Shabbat, as they originally claimed it would be. If Chabad of Oak Park wants to grow, it needs to go.
to know that as a neighbor sick of the many violations over the years, the parking abuses and yes, the trash, I am appreciative that The Acorn
took the time to present this neighbor’s perspective.
