Ida Lauper Smith

Ida Lauper Smith, 87, of Westlake Village passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014, surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

Ida was born August 1, 1927 in Los Angeles, California to Albert Lauper and Ida Pfister Lauper. Ida grew up in Los Angeles and worked at the Shell Oil Company where she met her life partner, John Carter Smith. They were married for 57 years until separated by John’s death in 2011. Ida worked at the Las Virgenes School District office for 29 years.

Ida was devoted to her family and friends. She played bridge with the same group of friends for over 46 years. Ida enjoyed traveling, camping, boating and golf.

Ida is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Halley and Deborah Smith; son, Jeffrey Smith; daughter in law, Sophia Smith; son-in-law, Jack Halley; granddaughters, Mariela Polkow, Jamie Smith, Alexandra Smith; grandson, Jason Halley; grandson-in law, Matthew Polkow; great grandchildren, Aiden and Aiyana Polkow; sister, Martha Heinlein and brother, Carl Lauper.
