Hotel sponsors television reading program

Country Inns and Suites By Carlson announced a commitment to literacy by becoming a presenting sponsor of the Emmy Awardwinning “Reading Rainbow” program on PBS television.

The two-year, $500,000 sponsorship will assist the program in fulfilling its commitment to help children adopt positive reading skills.

The move brings visibility to the Read I t and Return Lending Libraries in more than 400 Country Inn and Suites locations across the United States and Canada, including the hotel in Calabasas, company officials said.

“Our Read It and Return Lending Library featured at our hotel aligns well with the brand’s support of a criticallyacclaimed series like ‘Reading Rainbow’ and is part of our goal of promoting lifelong learning,” said Young Chang, general manager of the Calabasas hotel.

Launched in 2001, the lending library provides free books to guests based on the assurance they will return the book on their next visit.

The selection of books, with titles for all ages, will now also feature several books from the “Reading Rainbow” collection.

The library is displayed in the lobby of every hotel on a specially designed bookshelf.

The lending library has donated nearly $100,000 to literacy organizations across the country, which help both children and adults improve their reading skills.
